BRICS Heads of Space Agencies Meeting
BRICS Heads of Space Agencies met Tuesday in Bengaluru. Reps from 11 member countries gathered to tackle big challenges in global space sector. India,holding BRICS chair,hosts this two-day event. Countries include Brazil, China, Egypt,Ethiopia, India,Indonesia,Iran,Russia, Saudi Arabia,South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.
Theme for this year: “Building for Resilience,Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” Matches people-centric approach PM Narendra Modi pushed during BRICS Summit 2025 in Rio de Janeiro. ISRO says goal is to boost dialogue,collaboration on key issues affecting space exploration's future .
Space sustainability is big on agenda. Agencies will share ideas on keeping operations sustainable,ensuring debris-free missions. Talks will cover policy approaches,regulatory frameworks,best practices to make space activities last longer.
Besides sustainability,meeting will consider changes to BRICS Remote Sensing Satellite Constellation Agreement to bring in new members. Discussion on forming BRICS Space Council and its Terms of Reference also set.
Event will spotlight Indian space tech. Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre will host presentations showcasing Indian firms' skills in launch services,satellite tech,geospatial intelligence. Delegates to visit private space companies to get sense of India's growing space scene.
Jitendra Singh,Minister of State in Department of Space, will attend closing ceremony . Will talk with heads of BRICS space agencies.
