Blind teenager from northern China has achieved remarkable success,scoring among highest in national college entrance exam for students with disabilities. Guo Bin,now 19,faced unimaginable adversity at six when brutal attack left him permanently blind. assault happened in Shanxi province. A woman, later identified as his aunt,lured him away from home. After threatening him,she struck him with tree branch,causing irreversible damage to his optic nerves .
After attack,Guo was found unconscious and bloodied. Medical professionals confirmed extent of his injuries,rendering him blind for life. The assailant took her own life shortly after,jumping into a well—a tragic end to family dispute that led to such violence. In aftermath,Guo received compassionate care from team led by renowned Hong Kong ophthalmologist Dennis Lam Shun-chiu,who performed surgery to implant prosthetic eyes,giving Guo semblance of sight.
Music became refuge for Guo during recovery. With support of dedicated teachers,he learned to play five different instruments,finding solace and expression through music. Now,as he looks to future,Guo has chosen to pursue career in medicine,motivated by desire to help others facing challenges like his own. "I want to pass on the warmth," he said.
