Wednesday saw Canada's High Commissioner to India,Chris Cooter, sit down with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Talks focused on boosting trade and investment between Canada and this southern Indian state . Cooter invited Reddy to lead a delegation to Canada to explore joint opportunities.
Discussion spotlighted Telangana's infrastructure projects like the Musi River Development,Hyderabad Metro expansion,and Future City plan. Cooter noted Canadian footprints in the region — Firan Technology Group's new plant and CIBC's Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad.
One major investment: CPP Investments teaming with CtrlS Datacenters,pledging up to 1 billion Canadian dollars. Canadian interest in Telangana's tech and infrastructure sectors is rising.
Reddy detailed Telangana's strides in IT, Life Sciences, Defence,and Aerospace. He highlighted Hyderabad as a hub for Global Capability Centres, drawing numerous Fortune 500 companies .
The Chief Minister also pushed for support on solarisation and greener economy ambitions, alongside efforts to revitalize the Musi River to spur riverfront growth.
Reddy hinted at making Telangana a global knowledge hub,mentioning interest from top international universities to set up in Hyderabad . He floated the idea of a consortium of Canadian universities starting a multi-university campus there.
Welcoming Canadian involvement, Reddy invited businesses to the Global Investors Summit in December, aimed at sparking new partnerships and opportunities in region.
Cooter praised Telangana's job creation and development efforts,noting its skilled workforce. He assured Canadian support for various initiatives and reiterated his invite for Reddy to explore sectoral opportunities in Canada.
Looking ahead,Cooter announced a Canadian trade delegation will visit Telangana soon,aiming to deepen ties in energy,urbanization, and defence and aerospace sectors .
