Five Muslim representatives are now being demanded for next state cabinet. This push emerged during a gathering on June 1 in Shivamogga, where leaders emphasized the importance of having the cabinet reflect local demographics .
The district's minority wing leader made a case for appointing a woman, specifically MLC Balkees Banu, to the cabinet. Banu stands out as the only Muslim representative from Shivamogga in the assembly.
He argued that one of the Muslim legislators should become Deputy Chief Minister, while four others take on ministerial roles . It’s crucial for the cabinet to represent the local population, he said. He insisted at least two representatives from Shivamogga should be among three Congress MLAs: Madhu Bangarappa,B. K . Sangameshwara, and Belure Gopal Krishna, with one needing to hold ministerial position.
