Food safety inspections in Cyberabad on Friday, July 3, 2026,uncovered serious violations. Expired dairy products,poor hygiene practices found across three establishments. Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) led these inspections, revealing disturbing conditions at an Instamart warehouse and two eateries .
At Kwickbox Retail Private Limited in Gajularamaram, inspectors found expired cheese,yogurt smoothies,paneer. All trashed immediately. Cold storage was a mess,with vegetarian and non-vegetarian items mixed. Food handlers lacked valid medical fitness certificates. No proper inventory practices like FIFO or FEFO. Hygiene score was just 76%.
In Kandlakoya,Medchal, Old Trees Cafe also under fire. Expired sweet sauce,yellow curry paste discovered. Tossed out. Like Kwickbox, no medical fitness certificates for food handlers,no water analysis report for food prep. Dustbins without lids another red flag. Cafe got hygiene score of 82%.
Baisakhi Family Dhaba,also in Kandlakoya, did worse. No display of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) or trade licenses. Expired baby corn,black pepper masala discarded . Lacked records for medical fitness, pest control,water testing . Kitchen exposed to outside,no protective mesh,contamination risk high. Open dustbins, unlabelled semi-prepared food,synthetic food colors in Chinese dishes found. All discarded. Dead flies in refrigerator, rusted iron knives used… Management told to switch to food-grade stainless steel. Hygiene score a worrying 63%.
These inspections are part of a broader effort by CMC to raise food safety standards. Next up: school kitchens, where similar issues have surfaced. Will it be enough?…
