East Timor pushing for stronger ties between Asean and China’s Greater Bay Area (GBA) . Goal is to unlock investment,tech opportunities. Newest Asean member faces challenge of building capacity for regional integration,says Vice Prime Minister Francisco Kalbuadi Lay.

At South China Morning Post event,Lay talked up cooperation between Asean and GBA . GBA covers Hong Kong,Macau,and nine cities in Guangdong. It shines in tech and finance. Asean brings 680 million people to the table . “Asean and GBA are one of world’s most dynamic economic engines,” Lay said.

The Vice Prime Minister stressed trust and commitment to inclusive growth in these partnerships. He said this collaboration could make supply chains more resilient,boost digital transformation,and support sustainable industries. “We can create greater prosperity for our people,” he added.

As newer Asean economies like East Timor look to diversify and strengthen institutions,regional ties become key focus. Technology transfer and investment could boost East Timor's growth in coming years. But how quickly can these ambitions become reality…
