Electors in India face uncertainty after submitting Special Intensive Revision (SIR) forms online. Many question next steps, especially after confusion with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) who sometimes showed up unannounced or called them.
In some cases,BLOs seemed unprepared for online submissions. An elector from Mallapur in Uppal Assembly constituency shared frustration. After filling out form online and getting acknowledgment,he was told by BLO it was meaningless. “The BLO called me on Friday (July 3) morning. When I went there and informed the BLO that I had already filled online enumeration form and received an acknowledgment, I was told that it was of little use,” said Varun Kumar, who requested anonymity. He ended up collecting forms for his family, despite BLO’s apparent confusion.
Another elector,Abdul Qader from Khairtabad constituency, had similar experience. He completed form on June 28 to avoid waiting for BLO. When he finally met the officer,he was told to fill out a hard copy too, despite having submitted it online. “He encouraged me to be cautious,” Qader noted, pointing to lack of clarity.
Activist M . A. Akram, who helps voters with forms, has seen many opt for online submissions due to slow form distribution. But this has led to confusion. “Many did not know until told that they have to meet BLO and submit the form with the acknowledgment in any case. So they are seeing this as duplication. Electors are unfortunately unaware of the procedure,” he explained.
A BLO confirmed it's essential for electors to submit forms directly to them, whether filled online or in hard copy. Without this,SIR process remains incomplete. This requirement has puzzled many voters as they navigate the dual submission process.
Communication gaps between BLOs and electors lead to misunderstandings. As SIR period continues, voters need to know steps to ensure participation…
