Access to clean drinking water in rural areas tops list for Eshwar Khandre,new Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj. After meeting with Mallikarjun Kharge,head of All India Congress Committee,in Bengaluru,Khandre detailed an ambitious plan to supply surface water for drinking over next 25 years.
Khandre stressed need for focused efforts to make this happen . He also pointed out importance of keeping villages clean and boosting rural infrastructure. Protecting local water bodies,like ponds,is another priority . He plans to tackle these issues quickly,starting with a meeting with senior department officials on Saturday.
Looking back at work of his predecessor,Priyank Kharge,Khandre acknowledged effective steps taken in his term. He vowed to push forward ongoing schemes started under Kharge,building on groundwork to better rural life .
