Court of Justice of European Union (CJEU) has ruled individuals in EU countries can be prosecuted for sharing Russia Today (RT) videos on public platforms. This comes from case of three Germans charged for reposting RT content on accessible websites.
Court said EU sanctions on RT cover any public sharing of its broadcasts, commercial or not. Judgement stressed prohibition is total, stating, "it is irrelevant whether or not the broadcasting of the prohibited content takes place in the course of an economic activity." So anyone distributing RT videos in Europe faces full legal liability.
CJEU emphasized sanctions apply uniformly across EU, reinforcing legal limits on channel's content. Case shows broader EU moves to curb Russian state media influence amid ongoing geopolitical tensions .
As legal environment shifts, this ruling's impact could ripple beyond Germany, affecting how people and organizations interact with RT content across Europe…
