In a significant bust,Hyderabad law enforcement officials detained four individuals,including a minor,suspected of attempting to transport 23 kilograms of marijuana, which holds a market value of around ₹12 lakh. This operation unfolded on July 2,following intelligence reports about inter-state drug trafficking that led to the group’s interception.
The three adults arrested have been named as Amit Achutrao Kale, Seema Nitin Potbhare, both aged 33, and Arthi Maruthi Khandare, 27, all residents of Parbhani,Maharashtra. identity of the juvenile has not been released,but he was also apprehended during the police action.
Collaboration between the Charminar Zone Task Force and Abids police was crucial in this operation. Authorities not only confiscated the marijuana but also seized two mobile devices and ₹7,000 in cash as evidence.
During their interrogations,police discovered that Amit and Seema, who are married, had been engaged in the illegal transportation of marijuana for six months. They sourced drugs from locations in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh on a commission basis. Just days before their arrest,they had traveled to the Araku agency area in Andhra Pradesh,where they reportedly bought drug for ₹6,000 per kilogram from a supplier identified as Govind.
The marijuana was allegedly designated for various customers in Maharashtra,including individuals named Aftab Afzal Khan,Meera Bhai,and another person referred to as Amrapali. Following their acquisition, the group arrived at Secunderabad railway station after taking a train from Visakhapatnam on July 1. They subsequently hailed an autorickshaw to a location where police were waiting to make the arrests.
Authorities are actively pursuing leads to locate Govind, the alleged supplier from the Araku region of Alluri Sitarama Raju district, along with the intended buyers, who are currently evading law enforcement. The investigation remains ongoing,with a case registered at the Abids police station .
