Comic Con Hong Kong Debuts to Enthusiastic Crowds
The inaugural Hong Kong Comic Con has drawn large crowds,with pop culture fans flocking to Convention and Exhibition Centre. The three-day event,which concludes on Sunday,showcases a vibrant mix of international and local animated figures,igniting optimism among digital entertainment vendors for strong sales .
On Saturday,the exhibition floor was dominated by impressive statues of beloved characters from popular Japanese series like Dragon Ball and One Piece. Hollywood stars including Mads Mikkelsen,Giancarlo Esposito, and Christopher Lloyd are among headliners, adding star power to festivities .
Attendees can explore variety of attractions, including pop culture exhibitions, an artist alley featuring original comic art, and a dedicated area for cosplayers . Additionally,rare collectibles and exclusive merchandise are on display,enticing fans to engage with their favorite franchises .
Among visitors was Jeff Floro, a Chicago transplant who spent hours with his family dressed as characters from the Spider-Man universe. They invested approximately HK$700 (US$89) on costumes and budgeted another HK$800 for shopping at the event . Floro expressed enthusiasm for the experience, stating,“So we did a lot of DIY cosplay already. We’re happy to do a Comic Con.”
With its diverse offerings and enthusiastic participation, event is set to be a significant highlight in Hong Kong's entertainment calendar.
