Industry leaders gathered at The Hindu Huddle 2026, tackling leadership in a world full of chaos. The session,‘The Architecture of Leadership: Designing blueprints for volatile world,’ featured voices like R. Ganesan from L&T, Neeti Sharma of TeamLease Digital, Praveen Someshwar of USL, and Shailendra Katyal of Lenovo India. Moderated by L.V. Navaneeth of The Hindu Group,the 45-minute talk drilled into modern leadership's challenges.
Mr. Ganesan kicked things off, pushing for structured leadership. His mantra: “pause, reflect,then act.” A wisdom regression,he called it . “It works,” he said,stressing thoughtful decisions in turbulent times.
Sharma flagged need for leaders to really listen. “Dashboards and analytics abound,but leaders must hear industry noise,” she said. Understanding what keeps executives up at night is key. She pointed to business undercurrents.
Katyal pushed for decision clarity. “Chaos is short-term waving its hand,” he stated,urging leaders to ignore distractions and focus on long-term goals. Warned against middle management bottlenecks. “Create pilots,fail fast, and explain ‘why’ to frontlines,” he urged .
On supply chain woes,Katyal mentioned daily tariff changes and memory shortages hiking costs,making Lenovo favor commercial over consumer markets. “No perfect solution,” he admitted,highlighting volatility leaders face .
Ganesan shared L&T's COVID-19 response, mobilizing 120,000 workers for hospitals and oxygen. Credited their success to strong structure. He also touched on geopolitical disruptions,like Red Sea,Ukraine conflicts, leading to algorithms managing uncertainty.
Someshwar spoke on consumer behavior shifts, questioning local versus global preferences. Said leaders must know when to say no, setting strategic boundaries. “Choosing what we won't pursue is as crucial as what we will,” he noted.
Sharma warned disruption's here to stay. Many retailers misjudged e-commerce's permanence, losing big . “Chaos is temporary, but post-COVID, we got used to permanent chaos,” she said,urging leaders to adapt structures,talent strategies.
Someshwar, eyeing media's tech shake-up,said plans must flex with reality. “Don't marry plans, marry context,” he advised, stressing leadership's need for flexibility . Ended with AI patterns versus leadership judgment.
