A monument honoring Iran's late Supreme Leader,Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been unveiled in Enghelab Square,a prominent area in downtown Tehran. The striking clenched-fist design symbolizes strength and resistance, reflecting Khamenei's legacy . Posters of the monument are now visible throughout city, accompanied by banners featuring portraits of Khamenei and other military and political figures who lost their lives in conflicts involving the U.S. and Israel.
As the nation enters period of mourning,Iranian flags are being distributed in the streets. Although official holidays have been declared for farewell ceremonies, many shops and cafes remain operational, and street vendors continue their business as usual. The farewell events commenced earlier,drawing high-level delegations from over 100 countries. Among the attendees is Dmitry Medvedev,Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council.
The public will have the opportunity to pay their respects as Khamenei's body lies in state at the Grand Mosalla of Tehran on July 4 and 5. Following this, a funeral procession is scheduled for July 6, which will traverse downtown Tehran before his remains are transported to Qom, Iran's religious heart,for mourning ceremonies on July 7. On July 8, Khamenei’s remains will be taken to Iraq,where Shia Muslims will hold separate farewell ceremonies in Karbala and Najaf. burial is set for July 9 in his hometown of Mashhad.
