D . K. Shivakumar, Chief Minister of Karnataka,has told officials to find space for over 2 million books owned by collector Anke Gowda. This came after Gowda, claiming India's largest personal library,met him in Bengaluru on June 22.
In their meeting,Gowda,a Padma Shri awardee,stressed need for proper housing for his massive collection, gathered via Anke Gowda Jnana Pratishtana in Pandavapura. It's not just books. Rare coins and stamps too,which he showed Shivakumar.
Gowda's love for literature and history drove him to collect nearly 20 lakh books,turning his library into cultural gem. Chief Minister's promise to provide infrastructure highlights the need to safeguard such a collection for future generations . Officials now must find a fitting place to keep Gowda's works safe and open to all. But will they find it in time…?
