Startup in Kozhikode is turning football mania into typography with a fresh set of fonts inspired by FIFA World Cup. Fontspell,at Kinfra Technopark, launched four distinct fonts—FSL Malabar,FSL Newton, FSL Biryani, FSL Mugham—aiming to capture sport's energy and culture.
These fonts,a lively mix of curvy, square, and rounded letters, have popped up on football hoardings across Kerala. “World cup fonts are for fans, especially Gen Z,online all time,” said Pranav K.,Fontspell's founder and Argentina fan . Fonts fit both social media and big flex boards .
Fontspell's six-member team spent serious time on these fonts, some taking six months to finish. Inspiration from daily life. A unique Malayalam ‘Ma’ in graffiti sparked the ‘Ma’ in FSL Malabar Rush. Another font, Uyare, can stretch without losing shape, great for large displays.
“Fonts carry feeling. Each has its own anatomy. We focus on creative, functional, aesthetic appeal,” Pranav said. Football font package costs ₹700,versatile enough for themes beyond football.
Fontspell has tackled unique projects before, like turning actor Mohanlal's handwriting into a font and making fonts for poll graffiti. As football fever grips nation, this inventive typography approach will surely strike chord with fans, designers…
