Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) has a tight deadline for the 400 kV Extra High Voltage (EHV) sub-station in Kushtagi,Koppal district. Managing Director V. Ram Prasath Manohar says it must be done by March 2027 to move renewable energy from North Karnataka to other areas. It's crucial for getting more solar and wind power into state grid .
Suresh Itnal,Superintendent of Police Ram L. Arasiddi, and various departmental officials.Manohar highlighted role of the Doni-Kushtagi feeder line for new sub-station. He called the transmission corridor backbone of green energy network. But RoW issues have stalled some parts of the line.
He's given engineers three months to clear these roadblocks. Manohar urged district administration and police to help with land acquisition and RoW issues. “The sub-station works are progressing at good pace . However, the facility cannot function without the feeder line,” he said, pressing for quick solutions.
Once up and running,Kushtagi sub-station will be key for sending local solar and wind energy into main power grid . Manohar said both sub-station and Doni-Kushtagi line will boost power infrastructure in Kalyana Karnataka region, matching state goals for renewable energy growth.
Energy Minister K.J . George stressed project's importance, saying it will speed up Karnataka's shift to greener energy. He urged fast-tracking of transmission projects, highlighting need for KPTCL to work closely with local authorities to finish on time .
With firm March 2027 deadline,Manohar is confident teamwork will get sub-station online . But challenges remain…
