Union Minister Chirag Paswan declared the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will jump into upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. He stressed party's state unit will decide alliances and seat-sharing.
At press briefing,Paswan said, "The nature of the alliance,its form,and number of seats we will contest will be decided by state unit." Central parliamentary board will approve final decisions.
Besides electoral plans,Paswan announced party will celebrate founder's birth anniversary in Lucknow this year. Ram Vilas Paswan,his father,died in October 2020 after long illness. He was Union Minister of Consumer Affairs,Food and Public Distribution in Narendra Modi government.
Chirag Paswan reflected on his father's legacy,saying Ram Vilas Paswan was first elected to Lok Sabha in 1977 as Janata Party member from Hajipur, Bihar . He played key role in Indian politics,serving in various ministries.
On another note,Paswan spoke about food processing sector at Indian Healthy Snacking Summit,urging industry to give feedback for reform improvements. He described government's modernization push as "Reform Express," aiming to replace old systems with better frameworks.
He pointed to Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms as major success,noting government addressed industry concerns . "When I became minister,one of biggest concerns was GST. I'm pleased that GST reforms happened and for most products GST is down to 5 percent or even zero," he said.
Paswan also stressed importance of promoting healthy eating,noting rising obesity concerns . "I believe this is event our country and society need today," he said,highlighting need for more healthy options in market…
