Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) is rolling out a pilot for decentralized wet waste processing. They're using five Aerobin composters in Peerzadiguda, getting ahead of Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules,2026. Formal launch is July 10, led by Malkajgiri Municipal Commissioner T. Vinay Krishna Reddy at Parvathapur Integrated Solid Waste Management Park.
This program targets awareness among Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs),pushing for local wet waste management. Aerobin composters turn wet waste into organic manure naturally,no electricity needed . Compact design fits urban spaces, cutting odors and flies, producing compost faster than old methods .
If pilot succeeds,MMC will expand initiative to all circles. Each circle gets at least one major gated community or RWA into program. NGO Modern Architects for Rural India (MARI) partners up,funded by Swarna Lata Motherson Trust to install 80 Aerobin units at 15 locations starting August 1, 2026. Sites include 13 residential areas and an educational institution, with Peerzadiguda site becoming a model learning center.
MARI's project staff will handle daily operations, provide technical support. Initiative includes door-to-door campaigns on waste segregation, plus training for sanitation workers and housekeeping staff, MMC's statement says .
