Ajay Kumar Mattewada, micro sculptor from Warangal, Telangana, has crafted an astonishing miniature of Statue of Liberty inside eye of needle. This piece celebrates U.S.'s upcoming 250th independence anniversary. The sculpture includes USA 250 logo and U.S. flag, featuring 0.93-mm replica of the iconic monument. That's 10,000 times smaller than original 93-meter structure .
Mattewada spent about 130 hours over three months on original work in 2018. Since then,he's enhanced it by adding the flag with all 13 stripes — seven red,six white — and 50 stars. On July 3, 2026,he expressed pride in this tribute to American history.
His skill hasn't gone unnoticed; in 2024,he won first place in India–U.S. Space Cooperation Visual Art Competition, organized by U.S. Consulate General in Hyderabad . Afterward,he was invited as special guest to 248th U.S. Independence Day celebrations, where he was recognized for his contributions to micro sculpting . What comes next for his art?
