Kerala's government pledged to cover medical expenses for those injured in a tragic road accident in Nileshwaram,Kottarakara, where three died. Tourism Minister P.C. Vishnunath announced this Tuesday at accident site,joined by Labour Minister Bindu Krishna and local MP Kodikunnil Suresh.
Vishnunath called the incident deeply shocking. Initial police probe points to excessive speeding by a tipper lorry as main cause. He assured thorough investigation is on to find exact circumstances and any regulatory lapses that led to crash. “The government is taking growing public concern over unregulated tipper lorries very seriously,” he said,stressing road safety,especially for school kids and pedestrians,is top priority.
With accident fresh in mind,government also mulls financial compensation for families of deceased. Vishnunath said this will go before Chief Minister in next cabinet meeting.
Labour Minister Bindu Krishna tackled regulatory issues the Kottarakara accident exposed. She announced state will enforce strict measures against speeding heavy vehicles,particularly tipper lorries. “Legal action will be taken against operators ignoring safety regulations,” she declared. Despite bans on heavily loaded vehicles during peak school hours,these trucks still pose serious risk. Government vows to enforce measures to avoid future tragedies .
