Facing potential drought,Mysuru district officials plan a monsoon crop survey this July. Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy stressed need for full coverage. Missing anyone could leave farmers without vital government support.
At Wednesday's agricultural committee meeting,Reddy laid out survey schedule — July 1 to July 31. District spans nearly 10 lakh plots across 1,301 villages. A team of 1,009 will conduct survey . Past efforts hit 94-96% coverage. Even 1% shortfall could mean 9,000 farmers miss out on benefits.
“No farmer should be excluded,” Reddy insisted. Accurate crop data is key for compensation if drought hits. He told Agriculture,Horticulture,Sericulture officials to replace unreliable surveyors fast. Tahsildars will keep close watch to ensure smooth process.
Reddy also tackled backlog in Central FRUITS IDs — over 50,000 pending in district. These IDs crucial for farmers to get benefits under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN). Officials urged to finish registrations,link land parcels to FRUITS database.
Joint Director of Agriculture K.H . Ravi mentioned ongoing push to boost enrollment in Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana — drought looms. Awareness campaigns,like village announcements,pamphlets,are underway as crop insurance deadlines near for some pulse crops.
