Public representatives from SPSR Nellore district are urging the government to expedite infrastructure development in northern Nellore,particularly in light of upcoming industrial projects. The Dagadarthi airport,which has completed land acquisition, is currently stalled at the tender stage, prompting concerns about its slow progress . airport is projected to be operational by 2027.
During a recent visit to New Delhi,Rajya Sabha member Beedha Mastan Rao Yadav,along with MPs Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy,raised these issues with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. They emphasized need for swift action on the Dagadarthi airport project, which they believe is crucial for the region's economic development.
Naidu reportedly assured the MPs that he would prioritize Dagadarthi airport following the formal inauguration of the Bhogapuram airport, which is scheduled for August 1, 2023,with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance. The Bhogapuram airport is expected to enhance connectivity and stimulate growth in the surrounding areas.
In addition to airport, Yadav has called on the central government to modernize the Kavali railway station,which currently falls under the NSG-4 category. He has requested that it be included in the Amrit Bharat project for station development . The station serves approximately 2 million passengers annually and generated ₹13.41 crore in revenue for the fiscal year 2024-25.
Yadav highlighted importance of upgrading Kavali station,especially with significant projects like the Dagadarthi airport,the Ramayapatnam port,and BPCL’s integrated refinery project, which collectively represent an investment exceeding ₹1 lakh crore. He submitted a representation to Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw advocating for these improvements.
Furthermore,Yadav has requested additional train halts at Kavali for several key services,including the Sabari Express and the Howrah-SMVT Bengaluru Express. He argued that these stops would greatly benefit daily commuters,including small traders,employees,women,and students,thereby enhancing overall accessibility of the region.
