Indian actor Pankaj Tripathi will snag the 'Artist of Distinction' award at 2026's Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) . The August 13-23 festival marks a big moment for Tripathi, reflecting on his path from Bihar village to global acclaim .
In a heartfelt note, Tripathi shared his gratitude,saying,"Receiving the 'Artist of Distinction' at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne is deeply humbling." He spoke about storytelling's power to cross borders, connect people, and unite hearts beyond language or geography.
From Gangs of Wasseypur to Mirzapur and Mimi,Tripathi's career is built on celebrated performances. He sees international recognition as nod to the filmmakers,writers, and audiences who've backed him. "Every milestone is thanks to the trust and collaboration of filmmakers, writers, directors, fellow actors,technicians, and the audiences who embraced my work with love," he said.
Tripathi sees the award not just as personal but a shared victory with those who've been part of his journey. "This recognition belongs to them too. Coming from small Bihar village, I never imagined my stories would travel and be celebrated worldwide," he remarked.
His first IFFM attendance adds weight to the occasion. Tripathi is eager to connect with Australian audiences and celebrate Indian cinema's vibrant journey.
