Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a diplomatic mission to France and Slovakia on Saturday, focusing on enhancing economic and cultural ties. His itinerary includes a series of bilateral discussions,multilateral engagements,and interactions with the Indian diaspora. In a post on X,Modi expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming programs aimed at strengthening connections between India and these European nations.
The visit kicks off in Nice, where Modi will participate in Bharat Innovates event,attended by President Emmanuel Macron. This initiative coincides with the India-France Year of Innovation, showcasing vibrant platform for startups and innovators from both countries and beyond. two leaders will also review the India-France Special Global Strategic Partnership during their discussions.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Bharat Innovates event will gather prominent startups,innovators, and venture capitalists,reinforcing the collaborative spirit of innovation that characterizes the relationship between India and France.
Following his engagements in France, Modi will travel to Slovakia from June 14 to 16, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country since its independence in 1993 . This trip comes at invitation of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. During his stay, Modi is scheduled to hold delegation-level talks with Fico and meet with Slovak President Peter Pellegrini. The discussions are anticipated to focus on expanding cooperation in sectors such as trade,investment, automobile manufacturing, and railway infrastructure .
The MEA emphasized that this visit underscores India's commitment to bolstering its bilateral relationship with Slovakia across various domains. After concluding his visit to Slovakia, Modi will return to France to participate in G7 Summit in Evian on June 16 and 17. There,he will engage with leaders from G7 nations and partner countries,alongside heads of international organizations.
On June 18, Modi will head to Paris for further bilateral meetings and to attend the VivaTech Summit,Europe’s largest technology and startup event. He is also expected to address members of the Indian community during his time in French capital.
