The city of Shivamogga will host a three-day mango and jackfruit mela starting June 5,organized by the Shivamogga District Horticultural Produce Growers’ Cooperative Marketing and Processing Society Ltd. (HOPCOMS). R. Vijay Kumar,president of local HOPCOMS unit,made the announcement during a press conference on Monday.
This event, taking place at the APMC premises in Vinoba Nagar,aims to connect local growers directly with consumers. A variety of mango and jackfruit types will be available for purchase, showcasing the region's agricultural diversity. Growers from across the state are expected to participate,offering a unique opportunity for residents to buy fresh produce.
Kumar encouraged the community to take advantage of this initiative, which is part of the Horticulture Department’s ‘Growers to Consumers’ program. The mela not only promotes local agriculture but also supports farmers in reaching their customers directly. Residents of Shivamogga are urged to attend and explore the offerings at this vibrant event .
