Five travelling ticket inspectors (TTIs) from the Secunderabad division of South Central Railway (SCR) have been honored for their extraordinary contributions to passenger safety and security. Their actions, which went beyond typical scope of their duties,were recognized in a ceremony held on Friday.
Among the notable acts,TTI Sri Sai Ram intervened to apprehend a suspect involved in child abuse at Lakdi-ka-pul station. He not only handed the individual over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) but also played a crucial role in locating several runaway and missing children at Begumpet and Secunderabad stations. His efforts included coordinating with child welfare authorities to reunite these children with their families .
On June 2, TTI M. Sai Shankar made a life-saving decision by pulling the emergency alarm chain on Train No. 12861 Express. This action was prompted by a passenger who had slipped into a perilous position between the moving train and the platform at Dornakal station. Thanks to Shankar's quick thinking,the passenger received timely medical attention after being transported to a hospital with help of the RPF.
Another commendable act occurred on the same day when TTI M.V. Subba Reddy administered CPR to a passenger who suffered cardiac arrest aboard Train No. 12285 Duronto Express near Nizamuddin. His swift response was instrumental in saving passenger's life,who was later taken to a hospital for further care .
TTI Uttam Singh demonstrated vigilance on May 29 when he noticed smoke emanating from a toilet on Train No. 18045 East Coast Express. He promptly halted the train and initiated safety protocols,averting a potential disaster. Similarly,TTI Balraju reacted quickly to smoke detector alert on Train No. 12714 Satavahana Express on July 8, enforcing anti-smoking regulations to ensure passenger safety.
In another instance, TTI Subba Reddy uncovered an attempted narcotics smuggling operation on Train No . 11020 Konark Express,alerting security agencies to take appropriate action . Meanwhile,TTI Racheal Ranjitha recovered valuable electronic equipment left behind by passenger at Begumpet station on June 22, ensuring its safe return to the owner.
Sanjay Kumar Srivastava,the General Manager of SCR,praised the inspectors for their commitment and exemplary service,emphasizing their dedication to passenger welfare.
