Kerala first to feel monsoon's touch due to its spot on southwest coast. Moist winds from Indian Ocean hit the state’s coast first,then push inland. As they rise over Western Ghats,they cool,condense—rain falls. This kicks off monsoon's march across India.
Heavy early rains,often called pre-monsoon or onset rains, expected in Kerala June 2-6. IMD issued orange alerts for several districts,signaling very heavy rain between 11 cm and 20 cm,yellow alerts for others with 6 cm to 11 cm. Alerts cover districts like Malappuram, Kozhikode,Wayanad.
