Suvendu Adhikari,Chief Minister of West Bengal, caught up with S N Subrahmanyam, chairman and managing director of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), at Kolkata airport Saturday. Meeting followed recent talks between Adhikari and Karan Adani, managing director of Adani Ports. State's pushing hard for new investments,hoping to boost infrastructure.
Adhikari called the 30-minute meeting productive on X. He emphasized industrial revival's importance in West Bengal. Focus was on setting stage for industrial growth, drawing big investments,creating jobs for local youth.
Adhikari stated, "West Bengal has immense potential, and strategic collaborations with industrial leaders can transform state's economic landscape." L&T's already active in state's IT,engineering,technology sectors . They've invested in Kolkata before under former Trinamool government.
Earlier this year,L&T secured contract for major infrastructure project: nearly 5-kilometer bridge over Muriganga River. This bridge, Gangasagar Setu,will connect Sagar Island with Kakdwip. Valued at ₹1,670 crore, project aims to provide all-weather road connectivity to Sagar Island,home of annual Gangasagar Mela.
