  • State focuses on agriculture and manufacturing to boost economic growth

HYDERABAD — Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is pitching Telangana as top spot for investors, highlighting its advantages and security. Speaking to Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Friday,he laid out a bold plan to make the state global economic force, aiming for a trillion-dollar economy by 2037.

Reddy promised investors strong backing from the state government, pledging stable policies no matter the political winds . He said successful old policies will stay while new reforms will drive growth. “We are committed to policy continuity,” he assured, setting a business-friendly tone.

Looking back,Telangana's economic journey owes much to past leaders like P.V. Narasimha Rao,whose LPG reforms reshaped India’s economy . Reddy noted these changes put India on the global map.

Reddy recalled how earlier governments drew major investments to Hyderabad, mentioning visits from Bill Gates and Bill Clinton from 2004 to 2014. Infrastructure projects then, like the international airport and Outer Ring Road, made Hyderabad an economic hub . The current government plans to build on these with fresh initiatives.

At a global summit in December, with reps from 175 countries, the Chief Minister launched the “Telangana Rising 2047” vision. This aims to double state's GDP contribution to India by 2047. Reddy outlined three-tier strategy focused on Hyderabad and its outskirts, including CORE for services within the Outer Ring Road; PURE for manufacturing between the Outer and proposed Regional Ring Roads; and RARE, targeting agriculture beyond the Regional Ring Road.

The current 160-km Outer Ring Road serves nearly 13 million, and a new 360-km Regional Ring Road is coming to boost industry. The government plans industrial clusters, better connectivity, and radial roads to link ports, including a proposed 12-lane corridor from Bharat Future City to Machilipatnam Port.

Telangana is also positioned as a player in the “China Plus One” manufacturing strategy, competing with China, Japan, and Germany. Reddy announced central government approval for new airports in Warangal and Adilabad, plus three bullet train corridors linking Hyderabad to Chennai,Pune, and Bengaluru.

On agriculture,Reddy pointed to Telangana's fertile lands as ripe for horticulture, floriculture, and food processing. The government is focusing on cold storage and infrastructure to boost the agri-value chain, aiming for better productivity and market access for farmers.
