The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has issued a warning regarding a rapidly escalating fraud scheme involving impersonation of high-ranking executives and government officials. This alarming trend has resulted in over 300 complaints from across India in just three weeks, indicating a serious threat to financial security.
Cybercriminals are deceiving employees into executing unauthorized financial transactions by posing as trusted figures within organizations. The TGCSB's Director, Shikha, emphasized the urgency of the situation in a public advisory, urging businesses and individuals to remain vigilant against such scams.
Victims of this scheme often find themselves manipulated into believing they are responding to legitimate requests from their superiors. The impersonators typically use sophisticated tactics, including spoofed email addresses and phone numbers,to enhance their credibility.
As the number of incidents continues to rise, the TGCSB is advocating for increased awareness and caution among employees. They recommend verifying any unusual financial requests directly with purported sender through a separate communication channel.
The bureau's alert serves as reminder of the growing sophistication of cyber fraud and need for organizations to implement robust security measures. As this trend spreads, TGCSB is committed to combating these threats and protecting citizens from financial exploitation.
