On August 15,2026,Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy celebrated the 80th Independence Day by hoisting the national flag at the historic Golconda Fort in Hyderabad . The Chief Minister announced development of ‘Bharat Future City’,which is set to become India's first net-zero smart city. This initiative aims to position Telangana as a global center for artificial intelligence, data centers,advanced manufacturing,and emerging technologies. Reddy emphasized the importance of rebuilding the state and restoring systems that had been disrupted prior to his administration,which began in December 2023.

In his address,Reddy also underscored the government's commitment to agriculture, stating that nearly ₹1.70 lakh crore had been allocated for farmer welfare over the past 32 months . He asserted that the prosperity of the state is intrinsically linked to the welfare of its farmers. Addressing water-sharing disputes with Andhra Pradesh, he affirmed that Telangana would not yield its rightful share of the Krishna and Godavari rivers.

Reddy assured that pending irrigation projects,including the Thummadihatti and Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme,are being prioritized to ensure that irrigation water reaches every acre of farmland.

He also highlighted the establishment of Young India Skills University,aimed at equipping youth with advanced skills. So far, 1,190 individuals have received training,with 838 securing employment in reputable companies .

Investment initiatives have been robust,with ₹1.29 lakh crore secured through the TG-iPASS program, which is expected to create over 78,000 jobs. At Telangana Rising Global Summit-2025,memorandums of understanding worth ₹5.75 lakh crore were signed,showcasing the state as an attractive destination for investment.

Looking ahead,Reddy announced launch of Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy-2026, aimed at establishing Telangana as a leader in life sciences. The government is also focused on attracting investments in sectors such as semiconductors,electronics, and advanced manufacturing. Key officials,including Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju and DGP C.V. Anand, were present during Independence Day celebrations.
