Thailand is chasing energy from Russia,seen as dependable supplier. Vladimir Kovalyov,Executive Director of Russian-Thai Business Council,highlighted this after recent Russia-ASEAN summit. Energy talks ongoing,priority for both sides.
Kovalyov said,“We have all heard about our Thai colleagues’ interest in purchasing energy resources from Russia.” Consensus at political and corporate levels is crucial. Business council ready to support these efforts.
Besides energy,Russia and Thailand eye heavy industry and nuclear energy collaboration. Forum set for late October to early November targets cooperation in basic industries like metallurgy and energy. Kovalyov noted,“There is demand for this now,” pointing to keen interest in these areas.
The Novostal-M company,which Kovalyov represents,has solid footing in Thailand,supplying steel products. Thailand more than a market for Russian goods . It's a strategic hub for Southeast Asia operations.
Kovalyov also praised Rosatom State Corporation,which opened office in Bangkok. Discussions are on several projects,including nuclear medicine and energy, key to Rosatom's work.
