The Hindu Group snagged ‘Champion Publisher of Year 2026’ from World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) — third time they've taken this top honor. Announced at WAN-IFRA Digital Media Awards South Asia 2026,the Group grabbed seven awards,haul beating all other competitors.

This accolade goes to publisher with most wins across categories, spotlighting digital journalism,innovation,audience engagement . The Hindu scored gold for ‘Bihar SIR’ in ‘Best AI-driven News Product,Format or Strategy’ and ‘Young World Club’ for ‘Best News Website or App Relaunch’. Also clinched silver for ‘Written by Journalists’ in ‘Best in Countering Disinformation’ category.

Besides gold and silver,three bronzes went to The Hindu Group. ‘Made of Chennai’ won for ‘Best Marketing Campaign for a News Brand’, ‘The Hindu Explains’ for ‘Best Newsletter’,and ‘We Went Middle East, Talked INR,and Found Gold!’ for ‘Best Reader Revenue’. And Frontline,its sister publication,snagged bronze for ‘Mission Manipur’ in ‘Best Use of Audio’ ,bringing total to seven awards.

The Hindu outshone rivals from across South Asia,standing tall with other winners like HT Media Labs,Reuters,The Quint, Jagran News Media, Malayala Manorama,and Financial Times.
