Large unauthorized banner by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in Arakkonam collapsed after heavy rain,creating hazard for motorists. Banner was put up on Arakkonam Main Road near old bus terminus just before Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay's 52nd birthday on June 22.
Footage of fallen banner spread fast on social media,stirring public concern. Motorist B. Kaviarasu pointed out that though area is narrow,it’s a crucial route for locals,tourists. "The collapsed TVK banner has not only reduced total road space for users,but also put them at risk," he said.
Arakkonam municipality officials confirmed TVK didn't get necessary permissions from civic body or police for banner. After backlash,local TVK reps removed fallen banner Thursday. They put up new ones in less crowded spots like Taluk Office Road and Old Panchayat Office Road.
Authorities have started legal action against local TVK cadre for unauthorized banners,investigation underway. Raises questions about safety and regulation of public displays here…
