Authorities at Bengaluru Central Prison have flatly denied allegations by former inmate Sandhya Nagaraj about conditions in women’s wing. Nagaraj,once an undertrial,spoke to Kannada media on supposed irregularities there.
Prison officials,responding to her claims,conducted a surprise inspection of women’s section June 11,2026. Women officers and staff took part. They reportedly found no banned items. Everything seemed within prison rules.
Next day,Deputy Inspector General of Prisons for South Zone checked women’s wing further. After talking to inmates and staff,officials found no evidence backing Nagaraj's claims .
Meanwhile,two inmates and three staff filed complaints,claiming false accusations against them . Prison authorities have sought legal action via Parappana Agrahara Police Station,leading to case registration under non-cognizable report for more probing.
Prison administration also addressed media rumors about Pavithra Gowda,an inmate in Renukaswamy murder case,getting special treatment . Authorities firmly denied these,stating no special privileges given to her.
