Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw sees big chance for India's IT sector to tackle global semiconductor talent gap — one million professionals short. Speaking to industry insiders Saturday,he urged seizing this moment,with government backing under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Vaishnaw mentioned twelve semiconductor plants are in different stages of development,three already exporting chips to Japan,the US,and Europe . "People say the talent shortage in the semiconductor industry is of the order of one million globally," he said . India could be key here.

Govt's stepped up for semiconductors,offering advanced design tools to 315 universities across India. Aims to boost IT sector's design and development chops.

Electronics exports have surged,now India's third-largest export category,with mobile phones leading. "Last year,electronics exports became the third largest exported category in our country,which we could never even have imagined a few years ago. That change has already happened," he noted. Growth rate's strong,industry revenues over ₹13 lakh crore,projected to hit ₹20 lakh crore soon.

The sector employs about 2.5 million people,showing its national economic weight . Vaishnaw praised central govt's support for electronics manufacturing in Telangana,where 104 companies operate and four large clusters are sanctioned.

Besides semiconductors,Vaishnaw talked rail projects,including bullet trains and over 1,000 station redevelopments. First Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train section set for next year,more to follow in phases.

Hyderabad stands to gain from bullet train projects,with three of seven corridors linking to Pune,Chennai,and Bengaluru. Vaishnaw noted these trains are being designed and made in India,boosting its role in global bullet train scene.

He said, "The largest bullet train network would be in southern India,connecting Hyderabad,Chennai, Amaravati, Pune,and Bengaluru." This network's expected to drive economic change in these states,improving connectivity and boosting local economies.
