Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has asked Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for help in finding land to build his first home in the hills of his native state. Pant, currently in Sri Lanka with the Indian team,made the request public Friday night
Pant expressed his wish to move from Delhi back to Uttarakhand, saying, "I have been trying to buy land to shift my base from Delhi to Uttarakhand, and I couldn’t find anything facilitating and big to live here. I love my Uttarakhand. My humble request." His public plea has raised eyebrows,since his family already owns a house in Roorkee, Uttarakhand.
Chief Minister Dhami quickly responded,acknowledging Pant's contributions to the state through cricket. "Dear Rishabh, you are the pride of Uttarakhand," he said. Dhami assured Pant that officials would assist him according to rules.
Pant clarified later that he isn't looking for a freebie but wants to buy at government rates. "A gift would be lovely for representing our state at the highest level internationally,but if you allow me,I wanna buy it from Government and on their rates; at least I can have my first house built in my own state," he said, showing genuine intent to invest back home.
