Key Takeaways

  • His request highlights athlete influence in local governance
  • Chief Minister promises assistance in facilitating Pant's request
  • Pant aims to invest in his home state, not seek a gift

Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has asked Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for help in finding land to build his first home in the hills of his native state. Pant, currently in Sri Lanka with the Indian team, made the request public Friday night

Pant expressed his wish to move from Delhi back to Uttarakhand, saying, "I have been trying to buy land to shift my base from Delhi to Uttarakhand, and I couldn’t find anything facilitating and big to live here. I love my Uttarakhand. My humble request." His public plea has raised eyebrows, since his family already owns a house in Roorkee, Uttarakhand.

Chief Minister Dhami quickly responded, acknowledging Pant's contributions to the state through cricket. "Dear Rishabh, you are the pride of Uttarakhand," he said. Dhami assured Pant that officials would assist him according to rules.

Pant clarified later that he isn't looking for a freebie but wants to buy at government rates. "A gift would be lovely for representing our state at the highest level internationally, but if you allow me,I wanna buy it from Government and on their rates; at least I can have my first house built in my own state," he said, showing genuine intent to invest back home.

Chief Minister's response has started a process that might see officials reaching out to Pant. Pant's public appeal from abroad highlights his commitment to his roots and desire to contribute to Uttarakhand.

While unusual for famous athlete to seek help publicly,Pant's move reflects a trend among celebrities using social media to engage with politicians. His request has sparked talk about land access for prominent people in India, especially in scenic Uttarakhand.

As this develops, it's unclear how fast officials will act on Pant's request and what process involves . Pant, mostly playing for Delhi domestically, now wants a permanent home in state he represents.

With Chief Minister's support,Pant's dream of building a home in Uttarakhand might soon be real, strengthening his ties to the region . As cricket fans watch, this shows the power athletes have in their home states…
