Indian railways getting boost with new services as Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launched two express trains during virtual event Monday,July 6,2026. This move strengthens travel options between key regions,especially for commuters in southern states.
Vaishnaw stressed importance of these routes,saying better rail connections will greatly aid Sikh communities in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand . Local populations long wanted improved transport from Nanded. "Linking Nanded with Mumbai facilitates greater accessibility for districts in Vidarbha and Marathwada," he said at flag-off ceremony.
Minister announced extension of Tanakpur-Pilibhit route to Shahjahanpur,boosting regional connectivity. And Tanakpur-Agra route,once a special service,now a regular train. New stops in Khatima and Banbasa under consideration due to resident demands.
Vaishnaw highlighted major advances in Indian Railways,including laying of around 37,000 km of new tracks in last dozen years and nearly complete electrification at 99.6%. Promised 100 special trains for Onam festival in Kerala,plus over 300 for upcoming festival in Puri.
As Odisha representative in Rajya Sabha,Vaishnaw committed to enhancing railway infrastructure in his home state,with projects projected to exceed ₹90,000 crore. His announcements show strong push to boost rail connectivity across India…but will it be enough?
