Volunteers,locals launched major cleanup at Belomorsky State Natural Biological Reserve near Arkhangelsk . Over weekend,they cleared waste from two unauthorized landfills. Part of Clean Arctic project,they collected 17 tons of trash across four hectares.
People came from Vladimir,Ulyanovsk,Orel,Khanty-Mansiysk, joining Arkhangelsk locals . Together they tackled 20 cubic meters of debris in this crucial habitat for rare,endangered birds and over 20 plant species in Red Data Book.
Volunteers didn't stop there . They tackled nearby forestry area too,cleaning one hectare. Dmitry Fedoseev,project's director,said this cleanup is one of many. Karelia,Murmansk,Komi saw similar efforts. Chukotka up next…
