Mother of Cape Verde’s goalkeeper Vozinha,Ana Candida Evora, now has visa to attend her son’s World Cup match in Miami against Uruguay. News came from House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries on social media Wednesday.
Vozinha, 40, has been standout of tournament, making key saves in 0-0 draw against Spain. But financial strain of visa bond kept Evora from traveling to U.S.
After that match, Vozinha voiced frustration at his mother’s absence. Jeffries then pressed Secretary of State Marco Rubio to ease her entry into U.S . He confirmed fees were waived, with arrangements underway for Evora's trip to Miami.
“I thank Secretary Rubio,US State Department officials, the government of Cabo Verde and FIFA for working together to make this possible,” Jeffries stated.
Sunday's match vs. Uruguay will be momentous for Vozinha and his mother, finally together for this event…
