Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari of West Bengal revealed on Friday that the upcoming Census 2027 is scheduled to take place in the state from August 1 through the end of February next year . He underscored the necessity of this population count, encouraging participation from all citizens and maintaining that political influences will not interfere with the process.
At a recent gathering at Nabanna, the State Secretariat, Adhikari highlighted the urgency for West Bengal to advance its census procedures, noting that the state trails behind other regions in the nation. He remarked on the critical need to accurately reflect the urban landscape of the state in the forthcoming census.
Additionally,he touched upon issues related to demographic shifts in certain regions, attributing these changes to unauthorized border crossings from Bangladesh. He emphasized challenges presented by the state's extensive 600-kilometer boundary with Bangladesh, which remains largely unfenced, exacerbating these demographic changes. He noted that the lack of cooperation from previous administrations in securing border impeded effective measures against such infiltrations.
The Chief Minister reiterated the importance of precise census information for sound governance and planning initiatives . He called upon every resident to actively participate in the census, emphasizing its crucial impact on the state's development. "Your involvement in this census is essential for our collective future," Adhikari concluded.
