Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licence for Zayaka Food Court in Kondapur has been suspended by Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) after inspectors found hygiene violations. Food court must stay shut until it fixes issues and clears another inspection.

Inspectors found food stored in a broken freezer, stale chicken biryani, and spoiled vegetables. And egg mayonnaise was stored improperly. They reported a rodent infestation, with rat burrows, chewed food packaging, and droppings in areas meant for raw materials and packaging. Food items weren't separated correctly either.

CMC Food Safety teams hit multiple places on June 24, 2026. At Vijetha Supermarket Private Limited in Tellapur, inspectors found rotten fruits,low-quality peanuts, and expired products, like a bloated Frooti bottle . Dead insects on racks, no fly traps, and ignored cleaning schedules added to concerns. Labels missing manufacturing and use-by dates. Dusty, leaking oil packets and absent medical fitness records for food handlers were also issues .

Officials took peanut samples for lab tests and told the supermarket to improve cleaning and sorting . They stressed using the First In,First Out (FIFO) system, issuing an Improvement Notice for the problems found .

At Protein Chef in Madhapur, they found dirty areas and poor drainage maintenance. Unclean freezers held stale, unwrapped food, risking cross-contamination. Wrong thawing methods for frozen items, no hot water sanitation. Open dustbins near cooking areas made matters worse. No medical fitness records for food handlers here either, so officials collected food samples for more checks .

These inspections highlight rising concerns over food safety as urban eateries grow. CMC aims to make sure food businesses follow health rules to keep consumers safe…
