In Bandar Abbas,Iran,life's slowly crawling back to normal after months of conflict. Fishermen are working again,unloading catches,including baby sharks,a local treat. City,strategically perched on Strait of Hormuz,has been focal point of US-Israeli war with Iran,which spiraled in February.
International journalists just visited Iranian side of strait for first time since fighting started. Conflict heated up when US,Israel launched attacks on February 28,leading Iran to hit back at commercial vessels,Gulf states hosting US forces. Iranian regime's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) declared strait off-limits for ships without permission,stranding seafarers and spiking oil prices .
As tensions climbed,US countered with its blockade,complicating maritime activities. Waters too dangerous for months,fishermen stayed ashore. But a ceasefire now allows partial reopening of strait,letting fishing resume cautiously.
During recent strait excursion,local fisherman Abdol Rahman showed reporters two container ships seized by IRGC in April. Vessels,flagged to Panama and Liberia,still held despite ceasefire. Many other cargo ships anchored offshore,waiting transit permission.

Strike aimed at IRGC commander but caused civilian deaths,blurring military,residential lines. Data from Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project shows over 96 US strikes in and around Bandar Abbas during conflict,many hitting military sites near civilian areas.
