Russian Vehicle Sales See Notable Growth in Early 2026

First half of 2026 shows remarkable uptick in new vehicle sales in Russia. Figures reveal a 12% increase year-on-year, hitting 679,800 units sold. Surge mostly due to locally manufactured vehicles. They grew 29.3%,totaling 431,000 sales. Now 63.4% of market is homegrown, up over 8 points from last year.

Sales of passenger cars strong,hitting 610,300 units,a 16% jump. But light commercial vehicles took a hit, down 18%, with 40,000 units moved. Truck segment struggled too, dropping 9.1% to 24,600 units. Bus sales? Almost flat,dipping just 0.3% to 4,900 units.

June data tells more: 127,600 new vehicle transactions, a big 26.4% rise from last June . Passenger vehicles alone surged 29.3%,reaching 115,800 units. Yet light commercial vehicles slipped to 7,000 units,down 2.4%. Trucks? Up 14.7% to 4,100 units, while bus sales jumped 20.2%, totaling 797 vehicles .

“Overall increase in sales for first half of 2026 mainly due to passenger cars,” said Ministry of Industry and Trade. June saw growth in nearly all major categories.
