Full body scanners might soon be standard at airports in Srinagar, Jammu, and Ayodhya. Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) is behind this move . A senior official confirmed Wednesday BCAS made these locations priority.
Trials underway at four major airports: Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad,and Kochi. Started May 2026,lasting three months. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) handles performance assessments at trial sites.

“The trial initiated in May 2026 will evaluate its operational effectiveness,passenger convenience, privacy safeguards, and integration with existing security procedures,”official stated. These findings will guide future airport security policy decisions.
Besides scanners, BCAS has rolled out other security measures. Bomb squads now at 25 airports,with more teams at 35 locations. Specialized dog squads assist with explosive detection .
Security concerns highlighted by seizures in recent years. In 2025,CISF confiscated 31.46 kg gold,114.13 kg silver,and ₹52.91 crore cash illegally transported . As of May 31, 2026,agency reported 12.779 kg gold,23.825 kg silver,and ₹14.49 crore in cash seized.
