HAL Airport Road,funneling into Varthur Road,bore brunt of flooding . Commuters waded through knee-deep water. Not just regular traffic — even ambulances got stuck. Social media lit up with complaints,people questioning East Corporation's efficiency. This civic body supposedly richest in city.
Traffic police blamed an overflowing stormwater drain for worsening floods. A corporation rep mentioned ongoing drainage work. Ironically,just a day before,East City Corporation Commissioner inspected and urged faster drainage improvements .
While Varthur Road battled water,corporation updated social media on flood relief elsewhere. But many apartment complexes reported rainwater inside,showing gap between official announcements and reality.
In north Bengaluru,waterlogged chaos hit Vaddarapalya Junction on Hennur–Bagalur Main Road. Hebbal up-ramp to airport also swamped. A video showed traffic cop trying to clear water with bare hands — desperate times.
