Indian Navy plans to boost maritime strength with three new warships to be commissioned in Kolkata on June 21,2026. vessels—INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak, and INS Agray—showcase big leap in India's defense and naval tech.
Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) and designed by Navy’s Warship Design Bureau,these ships highlight India's push for self-reliance in defense. The ceremony will mark important step in Navy's operational reach,focusing on combat,surveys,and anti-submarine warfare.
INS Dunagiri, fifth in Project 17A stealth frigate series,comes with advanced weapons and sensors. Includes BrahMos missiles and MRSAM system. This boosts Navy's strike power and readiness .
Meanwhile, INS Sanshodhak is fourth Survey Vessel (Large), meant for coastal and deep-water surveys. Gathers vital ocean data. Equipped with tech like AUVs and ROVs,it will enhance maritime awareness .
INS Agray,fourth in Arnala-class, targets anti-submarine warfare in shallow waters. Built to detect and neutralize underwater threats,with torpedoes,rocket launchers,and sonar systems.
With over 75% indigenous parts,these warships show India's advancing defense manufacturing. More than 200 MSMEs involved,creating jobs and aligning with Atmanirbhar Bharat vision .
