India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare banned manufacture,sale,distribution of 16 Fixed Dose Combination (FDC) drugs. Effective immediately. Supreme Court had ordered a closer look at FDCs on market.

Ban issued under Section 26A of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. An Expert Committee from Drugs Technical Advisory Board (DTAB) investigated these FDCs. Found 16 lacked therapeutic justification,posed health risks .

Banned products cover various categories — dermatological treatments, pain-relief,antispasmodic drugs,some antibiotics. Ministry called these combos irrational,without scientific basis.
