Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS),labour wing of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS),called on global AI strategies to back human workers,not replace them,during 114th International Labour Conference in Geneva,June 9. They pushed social security,especially for gig workers,as main agenda .
BMS delegate Bojji Surendran noted India's 64% social security coverage,highest globally,according to International Social Security Association at World Social Security Summit in Kuala Lumpur. Global unemployment might stay at 4.9%,but 400 million still face job gaps. Employment alone doesn't guarantee security or dignity.
Surendran urged governments,international bodies to ensure decent work with fair wages,social protection,skill opportunities . He warned tensions in West Asia threaten labour mobility,overseas jobs,remittances,small business viability. Trade unions need to foster dialogue,trust in conflict times.
Responding to International Labour Organization (ILO) Director-General’s AI report,Surendran said tech should assist,not replace,workers . He supported Indian government’s efforts for social security for gig,platform workers — key for digital economy integration .
He also opposed term “labour market,” urging view of labour as human capital with dignity,respect. Surendran called on countries to adopt language reflecting this ethos. A more humane employment approach…
