Jagadish Shettar of Bharatiya Janata Party kicked off Yatri Suvidha Divas at Belagavi Airport, Sambra, on Monday. Shettar started things off planting saplings — nod to environmental sustainability . Airport Director S. Thyagarajan,officials and Aviation Consultative Committee members were on hand.

The event included Kala Nadige Nimma Balige, a cultural program by the Department of Kannada and Culture, with help from Airport Authority of India and State government. Thyagarajan stressed cultural events' role in showcasing the nation's rich heritage to the public.

Regional Commissioner Janaki K.M. praised performances like Veeragase and Bharatanatyam. Vidyavathi Bhajantri,Deputy Director,Kannada and Culture Department, underscored need to preserve India's diverse arts, especially rural folk forms.
